《아무개의 초상.ing》
1년 전, 컴퓨터 포맷 과정에서 발생한 오류로 수년간 저장해온 작업 이미지와 영상, 글 등 모든 데이터를 한순간에 잃어버리는 경험을 했다. 남아 있을 거라 믿었던 기록들이 흔적 없이 사라지며, 그동안의 시간과 노동, 그리고 작가로서의 흔적이 모두 지워졌다. 이 경험은 단순한 데이터 손실이 아닌, 자신이 통째로 증발해버린 것과 같았다.
오늘날 우리는 수많은 이미지에 노출되어 있다. 글, 사진과 영상, 작업 기록, SNS, 저장 장치와 클라우드 속 데이터들은 우리의 기억을 보관하고 삶의 흔적을 축적한다. 특히 시각예술가에게 이미지는 전시가 끝나고 작품이 사라진 뒤에도 남는 유일한 기록물이다. 작업의 과정과 결과, 시간과 노동은 컴퓨터 데이터로 축적되며 한 사람의 삶을 구성한다.
《아무개의 초상.ing》는 특정 인물의 초상이 아니라 이미지를 통해 살아가고 기억하는 오늘날의 우리를 의미한다. 우리는 무엇으로 이루어져 있는가? 우리의 기억은 어디에 저장되고 그것들이 사라졌을 때, 무엇이 남는가?
이 전시에 놓인 인물은 작가의 자화상이면서, 동시대를 살아가는 우리 모두의 초상이다. 그것은 완성된 존재가 아니라 수많은 기억과 기록, 저장과 손실의 흔적들이 잠시 결합하여 만들어낸 불안정한 형상이다.

《Portrait of Nobody.ing》
A year ago, an error during the process of formatting my computer caused me to lose every piece of data I had accumulated over the years-images of artworks, video works, texts, and countless records. The files that I believed would always remain, disappeared without a trace overnight. Along with them, my existence as an artist vanished; years of time, labor, and all the traces of my career are gone for good without any warning.
The experience was more than a simple loss of data. It felt as though a part of myself had disappeared entirely.
Today, we are surrounded by an overwhelming number of images. Texts, photographs, videos, work archives, social media posts, storage devices, and cloud-based data all preserve our memories and accumulate the traces of our lives. For visual artists in particular, images often become the only remaining record after an exhibition and the physical artwork is gone. The processes, outcomes, time, and labor embedded in a work are condensed into digital data, gradually forming the narrative of a person's life.
《Portrait of Nobody.ing》 does not refer to the portrait of a specific individual. Rather, it speaks of all of us who live, remember, and construct ourselves through images.
What are we made of? Where are our memories stored? And when those memories disappear, what remains?
The figures presented in this exhibition are both self-portraits of the artist and portraits of all of us living in the contemporary world. They are not complete or fixed beings, but unstable forms temporarily assembled from countless traces of memory and record, preservation and loss.
